Synapse Series No. 4 Vibrant Green
Add a splash of vibrant color to your home or work space with this unique piece of modern wall art. In what evolved as the fourth and final addition to my Synapse series, the inspiration behind this painting came from a microscopic image I came across while reading an article about consciousness. The photo behind my inspiration showed beautifully colored neurons and neuronal connections in flashes of brilliant greens, blues, pinks, yellows and reds, each color corresponding to different fluorescent structures within the image. I wanted to capture that sense of synaptic connection between neurons and neural tissue.
For the final painting in the series, I chose a vibrant green abstract background with dominant black tones and subtle shaded tones. Throughout the series, I played with the ideas of shape, form, shading and space. Similar to the 3rd painting in this series, the lines are strong and bold with a thick application of black paint. I focused more on peripherally placed dominant black forms with a solitary central form enclosed by three shaded regions. Follow the lines with your eyes and try to identify what you feel to be the strongest curve. Step closer to the painting and observe how the subtle shaded regions become somewhat more visible to the eye as the bold forms draw less of your gaze.
It is my hope that you derive as much enjoyment in owning this piece as I have in my time creating it.
