Antique Fish Set Knife Boxed Pair Textured Bovine Bone Handles Bright Cut Silverplate
A boxed presentation set of two stubby-handled fish knives, c.1860-1880, from an unknown producer, likely with English origins. The two identical pieces feature a bright cut decoration on a single side of the blade and textured Bovine bone handles. The short handles have the feel of a tree branch, with tiny bumps and ridges along the edges. The side opposite the cut design shows impressed "E P N S" and "AI".
Each piece measures 5 1/2" Long, with 3/4" wide blades. Box measures 6 3/4" L x 2 7/8" W x 7/8" Thick.
Very good. Thin cracks on both of the bone handles - two on one, one on the other (picture ) - and some sections of darkening on the silver blades. Minimal wear to the blade. A short side of the box is missing an edge (lid, picture ). Set appears to have been stored in its box for a long period of time.
