We are offering an antique Victorian embossed paper card in an original frame. This piece is gorgeously detailed with a Greco-Roman theme: in the foreground, a man listening to a woman playing a lyre, both surrounded by flowers and foliage. The entire piece is detailed with highlights of gold leaf paint. Silver embroidered threads in petal shapes. The card is edged in paper lace and in the center, in colorful paper flowers and fabric, is a poem. The frame has original glass and measures approximately 8” high x 6” wide.
Beautiful in a powder room or bedroom! Very elegant look! This piece is a lovely addition to any collection.
The bottom of the card is embossed “Windsor” with a maker's mark and the poem reads “How dear the dream/ In darkest hours of ill/ Should all be changed/ To find thee faithful still”.
Very good condition with predictable aging of the frame.
