ANTIQUE VICTORIAN STERLING KRIDER & BIDDLE ICE CREAM DESSERT SPOONS SET OF 12 CIVIL WAR ERA
Wonderful set of 12 sterling and gold washed ice cream/dessert spoons from the Philadelphia, PA based Krider & Biddle (later changed to Peter L Krider & Co.). Handle tips feature a simple yet elegant traditional shell tip and scrolled edge design. Neatly decorated on both sides, a thin flower-like motif runs down the handle stopping just above the upper bowl. Inner bowl and small section of the handle show a rich vermeil gold wash finish. Krider & Biddle monogram is imprinted on the spoon's rear and dates this piece to a time between 1860-1870. Handle is monogrammed with what appears to read "R.E.J.".
Spoon's measure 6" long in total (inner bowl measures 2 1/4" long x 1 1/4" wide).
Very good to excellent condition. No dents, bends, or significant scratching. Some spoons show light, age related scratching/stains on the spoon backs and gold wash. Entire set looks to be infrequently used.
