ANTIQUE 19thC REDWARE STONEWARE FISH BUTTER PUDDING MOLD FOLK ART PRIMITIVE

Offered here is a gorgeous rare Antique redware American Made stoneware terrine, cake, pudding or butter mold in the shape of a fish. Perhaps used at Christmas?

Small size is rare. Any fish or fowl is rare in a redware mold!
With thick walls and a heavy, sturdy construction, this is perfectly designed for its purpose.  Someone really took excellent care of this piece .

Interior has creamy white tin glaze. Exterior has a clear glaze on all the exposed redware that has kept it in great shape.
Redware, a ceramic formed by firing red clay lining riverbanks in the Northeast, especially Pennsylvania, ranges in color from region to region, and was particularly popular due to its affordability and sturdy design (that could stand up to the heat of a stove).

A beautiful American primitive stone ware piece that will add color and antique country character to your decor.
Fish mold is in antique condition with age appropriate soft crazing on the interior. Running down from the rim is a tight hairline crack. This issue does not compromise the rare beauty or integrity of the piece.

Measures approximately 7.5" long on the top, 3.5" wide on top. Sits 2 1/4" tall. Walls of the bowl are about 1/4" thick.
