Offered here is a wonderful antique advertising chromolithograph hanging calendar and almanac dated 1880. It was made for a grocer & tea dealer in Blackpool, England by the name of Wm. Crombleholme. Either Mr. Crombleholme or his son was a trained artist and painter. We will be selling original watercolors and other works by this artist. Please check our other listings to see them soon.
This piece features a lovely floral design and the calendar notes dates of historical interest as well as holidays. The colors are excellent as they should be with a chromolithograph.
The calendar is matted on foam core.
The months of the calendar are above and below the Commercial announcement that reads: "Presented by WilliamCrombleholme, Family Grocer, Tea, Coffee, and Provision Dealer, 5 King Street, Blackpool. Home-Cured Hams and Bacon. Bitter Ales and Porter...in Bottles and Draught." It is marked "Ainsworth, Printer, Blackbury".
The light pink frame measures approximately 13 1/4" wide x 16 7/8" high x 1" deep while the calendar measures 12 3/4" wide x 16 3/4" high.
This item is in good condition. There are some crease marks and tears at the edges of the print. The frame has some scuffing.
