Antique 1917 Singer Model 127 Sewing Machine – Sphinx (Memphis) Decals – w/ Case & Foot Pedal
Up for sale is an original Singer Model 127 sewing machine, manufactured in 1917 (serial number G4708331). This machine features the highly decorative “Sphinx” (also called Memphis) gold decal motif, with Egyptian-inspired artwork, intricate scrolls, and a winged sphinx centerpiece.
Features & Details:
Model: Singer 127
Serial Number: G4708331 (dating it to 1917)
Finish/Decoration: Classic black enamel with gold Sphinx/Memphis decals
Case: Portable wood base with fitted brown styled carrying cover (shows some wear, interior lining intact)
Case Dimensions: 18"L x 7 1/2'W x 13 1/2"H
Weight: 35 lbs
Condition:
The machine shows cosmetic wear to the decals and surface from age and use, but much of the ornate detailing remains vivid. Very nice aesthetic condition, but some conventional use wear such as base scuffs and latch wear; cover has some edge fraying (see photos). The clutch is stuck and won’t move, the hand wheel is on the inside that moves the needle up and down so there’s a problem with the bobbing of the needle
