Best condition we have ever had!
We are offering an antique Civil War era ambrotype photograph in a gutta percha case, measuring about 3” x 2.625” when closed. The ambrotype creates an image with a lifelike quality of an infant staring just beyond the viewer, and is framed with a bright gold tone.. The other side of the case is a plush red velvet. The outside is decorated in the quintessential Victorian style. This piece is the perfect addition to any collection.
Very good condition with only two small chips along one top edge of the case. For the age of this case, I would classify the condition as very, very good. There is some wear to the inside frame in the form of dark spots which do not affect the integrity of the frame. The hinge works perfectly.
