Antique Black Basalt Porcelain Mourning Biscuit Jar w/ Sybil Lid Finial
A striking Early 19th-century black basalt porcelain covered jar, decorated in classical relief scenes and topped with a finely modeled figure of a Sybil on the lid. The body is richly ornamented with leaf garlands and panels showing mythological figures, goats, and pastoral imagery. Crisp raised detail. Unmarked (likely not Wedgwood, though very much in the Wedgwood style). Likely mid to late 19th century, in the neoclassical revival tradition

Condition:
Displays wear and age consistent with its age. Some rim nicks and small edge chips visible. Small crack at the seam of one side of the lid. No major cracks or repairs noted.
