Antique British Black Bat Print Child’s Cup & Saucer – Mother and Child Scenes, Early 19th Century Porcelain

Here we have an early 19th century French porcelain tea cup and saucer featuring black bat print decoration. The cup and deep saucer are decorated with finely detailed neoclassical imagery—one scene showing a mother helping her child onto a toy horse, the other depicting a moment of feeding.

The decoration is applied using the black bat printing technique; very recognizable by its soft shading and engraving style. This delicate transfer method was mostly popular on porcelain circa 1800–1820

Both pieces are finished with hand-painted gilt rims and the cup includes a matching gilt-accented handle. Though unmarked, the form, decoration, and style suggest early 19th century British porcelailn.

Cup Dimensions: 4 1/8"L x 4 1/4"W x 2 3/8"H
Plate Dimensions: 5 3/8"W x 1 1/4"H

Condition:
Very good antique condition with light wear consistent with age. Minor gilt loss to the rims and handle, a few faint glaze lines, and small scattered surface imperfections. No repairs noted. A beautifully preserved example of early bat printed porcelain ware. Please closely inspect our photos, and let us know if you have any questions.
