Antique French Hand-Painted Toleware Jardinière / Cachepot - Chinoserie
Here we have a vintage French hand-painted toleware jardinière (small planter or cachepot), crafted from metal and finished in black. The scalloped rim is gilt painted with the interior painted in a warm cream tone. The exterior features a Chinoiserie-style Bow, Arrow, and Quiver motif in goldIt rests on 4 small ball feet.
The underside bears a handwritten marking:
“Made in France"
Also bears another provenance mark with a name I am unable to currently decipher, followed by "Brother"

Shows expected age wear for painted tin: mild surface oxidation, scattered paint loss, and edge wear consistent with decades of use and handling. Structurally sound with no cracks or separations. The gilt accents retain good contrast against the dark background, and the hand-painted decoration remains crisp. The cream interior has some scratches that won't be noticeable if filled.
