Antique 1913 Halloween Postcard by John Winsch – “Gambols” Goblins, Witch & Clown – Embossed Made in Germany
Today we have an Antique Halloween postcard, designed by John Winsch and copyrighted in 1913. Titled “Hallowe’en Gambols!”, the illustration features a playful scene of green goblins dancing on strings between a witch in a pumpkin skirt and a smiling clown in blue polka dots. Wide-eyed jack-o'-lanterns peer in from the background. Delightfully eerie charm.
The caption reads:
“You will see if you are keen, Some funny sights on Hallowe’en – Perhaps some funny gobelins green at their gambols may be seen!”
