Antique German Bisque Santa Gnome with Sack Vase ~ Late 19th Century-St Nick
Charming turn-of-the-century Antique German bisque figure depicting a gnome in red cap, green jacket, and red trousers, leaning playfully against a large tied sack that doubles as a small vase or spill holder. He looks like Santa Claus or St. Nick. The whimsical subject and matte bisque surface are characteristic of late 19th to early 20th century German decorative ceramics, produced for export as novelty table wares and decorative accents.
This example shows hand-painted details, with original paint still visible though showing expected wear from age. The underside is impressed with the mold/design number 15761.
Very good condition, no large chips or cracks noted, but normal wear and shelf rub on the base due to age.
