Antique German Erzgebirge Putz Swingset Figurines (Set of 3) Christmas VIllage
Charming group of three antique German Erzgebirge “putz” swing scenes, each hand-carved and hand-painted from wood and depicting children seated on a playground swing. These miniature figures were traditionally produced in the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) region of Germany, an area renowned since the 19th century for its folk art and Christmas decorations.
Each swing features a painted wooden frame, suspended wooden seat, and two stylized figures, rendered in the folk-art style characteristic of early Erzgebirge production. The figures show simplified facial features, block-formed bodies, and bright original paint in red, green, yellow, blue, and natural wood tones. The swings are hung with darkened metal wire or hooks, consistent with early construction methods.
These pieces were likely made circa late 19th to early 20th century and intended for use as putz village scenery, Christmas displays, or toy-themed holiday decorations.
Condition:
Good antique condition overall, with expected age-related wear, including paint loss, surface wear, minor chips, and patina consistent with over a century of age. No major breaks observed. All figures remain structurally intact and display well. Condition is consistent with authentic Erzgebirge folk pieces and has not been restored.
