Antique Jessie Willcox Smith Original Art Print Charity Poster Illustration Rare
We are offering a rare antique illustration print on paperboard, measuring 14” x 14.5”. The illustration is by Jessie Willcox Smith, one of the most accomplished illustrators of her time.
This piece is very reminiscent of her iconic cover illustration for Carolyn Wells’s The Seven Ages of Childhood. Under the typography “Give”, a young girl looks out at the viewer, her arms outstretched, with two smaller children clinging to her for comfort.
The artist’s signature is along the bottom of the circle. This piece was created for the Philadelphia Welfare Federation to advertise their charity drive, and it appears that the previous owner removed the bottom half of the poster to keep the artwork itself. This piece is the perfect addition to any collection.
Good to very good condition with expected age-related wear. There is some wear to the edges of the paper, which doesn’t interfere with the artwork. There is a hole in the top where it would have been hung.
