Antique Primitive American Folk Art 1836 Painting Print Mourning Tuttle Mourning Signed Betsy Tuttle Davis
We are offering an antique Primitive painting print, measuring in an antique frame about 21” high x 13” wide. This 1900's print depicts a woman dressed solemnly in black mourning attire, carrying a book and reticule purse, and walking across a brightly colored carpet. The bottom of the piece is signed “Betsy Tuttle. Painted at the age 19. 1836.” Betsy is a nick name for Elizabeth. Painted originally by H Davis.
The gold leaf frame is original. Original hand hewn wood on the back. Early Victorian, late Georgian period frame with a more modern print.

Good condition with expected age-related wear. There is a splotch of discoloration on the subject’s face and to the right of it. Mild foxing at the bottom. The gold leaf frame is original. The frame has age related nicks.
