Antique Robin Hood Maid Marian 1830's Georgian Engraving Print Theater Fashion
We are offering an antique Georgian era hand colored engraving print of Maid Marian by J L Marks circa 1830’s in the original wood and glass frame.
This piece is a beautiful rendition of Robin Hood’s Maid Marian dressed in 1830’s fashion with a bow in hand and a quiver on her hip. The artist was known for his satire work, but this piece was most likely for a theater troupe.
The frame measures approximately 9” x 7”. Old hand made screws, original to the frame.
This piece is the perfect addition to any collection.
The print is marked “Maid Marian/ London, Published by J L Marks, 91, Long Lane, Smithfield”. On the back of the frame is written, in pencil, “Marian 1909/ Aunt Maria Harvey to Marian Lee Wood”.
Georgian era hand colored engraving, Theater art. Good condition with damage to the frame that is predictable considering its age. Normal age discoloring. Please see the pictures. There is some wear to the wood around the nails and a crack down the back side of the frame.
