Antique Sterling George Sharp Gorham Krider Bailey Childs Plate Cup Flatware Set
We are offering an incredible sterling silver set! Purchased rom the famous Philadelphia jewelry store, Bailey & Co. Mr. Joel J. Baily gifted this beautiful child's christening set to J J B Cox in 1877. Looks like it was a grandson.

Interestingly, Bailey & Co choose wonderful pieces from 3 important Silversmiths at the time- Gorham, George Sharp and, Peter L Krider. Bailey & Co carried the best of the best silver producers at the time.
Set includes :
* Engraved brite cut sterling silver 7.5" plate, Gorham Hallmarks, 170, F.
* Engraved brite cut sterling silver Mug, Peter L Krider Hallmarks, 112, Bailey & Co, George Sharp Hallmarks. Gold washed interior.
* 3 piece flatware set all solid sterling with brite cut engravings. 6.25" Fork, 6" spoon and 7.25" knife, Signed Bailey & Co, Krider Hallmarks on the handle.
Doesn't get much nicer than this! The engraving is the best I have ever seen. Interesting flat finish on parts of the plate and mug, and one side of the knife. The finish makes all the brite cut engraving sparkle like diamonds! Weighs 475.8 grams together.
Engraved on the front of the plate and mug: "JJB Cox, from Joel J Baily, 1877" Comes with silver anti tarnish bags.
Joel J. Baily, 1820-1889, was an important owner of a dry goods store located at 719-721 Market Street, Philadelphia. I have included a picture of him and his shop. Please scroll down to the text to see all the pictures.
