Antique Victorian French Porcelain Portrait Plaque Ornate Sterling Silver Frame
Offered here is a stunning antique Victorian hand painted portrait porcelain tile plaque set into a hand chased sterling silver frame. The plaque was likely made in the mid 1800s. Pictured is a beautiful scene of a half nude woman with cupid or an cherub. The light blue border contrasts nicely with the golden background. A very French type of design encircles the outer portion of the porcelain with a golden fleur de lis in four places. The golden background also has hand stenciled designs that sparkle in the right light. The sterling frame is absolutely gorgeous with hand chased flowers and scroll work. Truly a one of a kind piece.
Measures 9 1/2" Long x 6 3/4" Wide x 5/8" Thick
Very good to excellent. No major wear to either the frame or porcelain design. Minor surface scuffs at the top of the gold painted interior, and light plate wear around frame's exterior. Slight bending of the back of the silver frame on top right at about 2 o clock. Felt back piece has stand part broken off. Can be easily fixed although we think this piece deserves to be hung on a wall.
