Antique Wedgwood “Four Nations” Black Basalt Large Creamer <5"H ~ c. 1920's
This handsome Wedgwood black basalt creamer is decorated in the classic “Four Nations” design, incorporating the rose of England, thistle of Scotland, harp of Ireland, and shamrock, each within oval cartouches framed by scrolling foliage. The textured ground contrasts beautifully with the raised classical motifs, a hallmark of Wedgwood’s 19th and early 20th century work in basalt ware.
The piece retains its deep satin-black finish on the exterior with a glossy glazed interior, practical for use.
