We are offering an antique Wedgwood jasperware biscuit barrel in Portland blue, measuring about 6” tall and 5.75” in diameter. This piece is in the iconic Wedgwood style of Greco-Roman revival, with a pastoral scene of cherubs and maidens wrapping around the circumference in high relief. There is a metal lid and handle attached to the rim, which is not marked but appears to be silverplate. This piece could have been used to hold candies or biscuits or to serve ice. The inside of the barrel is glazed while the outside is not. This piece is the perfect addition to any collection!
The bottom is marked “Wedgwood”, dating this piece to some point before 1891.
Excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is some wear to the relief, as expected of a piece of this age. Please inspect the provided photos carefully, as they are an extension of our written description.
