Original Signed Watercolor by Raphael Senseman (1870-1965) — Autumn Woodland Landscape

This is a vintage, original watercolor painting by the American artist Raphael Senseman (1870-1965), a noted seasonal landscape painter active in New Jersey and the surrounding region. Senseman’s watercolors are known for their atmospheric, softly rendered landscapes that capture the subtle light and color shifts of autumn, winter, and rural nature scenes.

Artist Background:
Raphael Senseman was born in 1870 and worked primarily in watercolor and gouache, becoming a prolific and well-collected landscape artist in the early 20th century. He was the nephew of the 19th-century painter William Henry Lippincott and is believed to have studied under him. Senseman exhibited his work regularly from around the turn of the century and was particularly active in the Camden and Collingswood areas of New Jersey. His work appears in private and public collections and comes up at auction with regularity.
