Rare WWII Battle of Okinawa Map – Iribaru SE, Sheet 3626-III SE (Double-Sided, Secret Classified Issue, 1945)

Offered here is an original U.S. Army Map Service (AMS) photo reconnaissance and invasion planning map prepared for the Battle of Okinawa (April 1945), one of the most important campaigns of the Pacific Theater.

Map Title: Iribarun SE – Ryukyu-Rettō, 3626-III SE
First Edition (AMS 1), 1944 – reproduced by the 30th Engineer Base Topographic Battalion, February 1945
Scale: 1:25,000 (approximate)

Issued in early 1945 in preparation for Operation Iceberg, the amphibious assault on Okinawa. It shows the Hagushi Bay landing beaches, with grid overlays and detailed symbols marking Japanese defensive positions, including:

  • Coastal defense guns

  • Artillery emplacements

  • Machine gun nests and pillboxes

  • Radar and searchlight sites

  • Trenches and anti-tank obstacles

This is not just a map—it is a primary invasion document, used for planning the largest amphibious landing of the Pacific War. An exceptional piece of WWII military history, highly sought after by collectors of WW2, Pacific Theater and Battle of Okinawa artifacts.

Original vintage example. Folded, with some creases and minor age wear consistent with field use. Overall, great shape.
