Rare 1981 Vintage Gibson ES-175CC Hollow Body Electric Archtop Guitar
Proud to offer this incredible, Vintage 1981 Gibson ES-175CC (Charlie Christian) hollow body arch top guitar, fabricated in the historic Gibson factory located in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This limited-edition model features the legendary Charlie Christian-style blade type single coil pickup, originally created f or his beloved Gibson ES-150 archtop.
The tone of the guitar is incredibly full, and warm on the low end. Tight and pointed brights that you'd hope from a high quality electric, and "complete" body that you crave from a quality acoustic. It's no coincidence that ES-175's are so often associated with jazz icons like Pat Metheny, and Joe Pass, as well as fusion and rock legends like Steve Howe and Buck Dharma (notably used on Blue Oyster Cult’s "Don’t Fear the Reaper").
The ES-175CC offers versatile tones that blend warm, round clarity with a distinct, bell-like chime.

*Condition*
This Gibson ES-175CC is 100% original and is in very good vintage condition, barely reflecting its age with very minor scratches and dings that add to its character. Light weather checking on the body. Scratch above the bridge. Vertical scratch on the back right of the body. Light wear on the neck around the 3rd fret. Scratch(may actually be a weather checking mark in the finish?) on upper side of the bass bout close to the neck joint. Light scuff/wear on the neck near the bottom, and on the rear center of the body.
The guitar is impressed on the rear of the headstock “SECOND”, indicating it was a factory second, potentially due to a minor flaw already listed in this description. After 44 years, factory “seconds“ can look like first quality axes.
No cracks, no major or minor damage, just minimal, honest play wear.
And, this instrument plays easily & sounds ethereal, following a complete inspection & full professional set up by our esteemed luthier, Dave Fecca Guitar Repair of Moorestown, NJ.
