Here we have a Victorian-era Wedgwood Motto Jug, a wonderful example of 19th-century English stoneware craftsmanship. This pitcher features a three-band relief design, each adorned with raised oval medallions and a continuous inscription wrapping around the body. The jug is glazed in a cream-colored base with rich brown, golden-yellow, and dark brown accents, with a sculpted wheat-sheaf handle, adding a touch of rustic charm.
The inscription reads: "What tho' my cates be poor, take them in good part, better cheer may you have, but not with better heart," from the classic Shakespeare play "The Comedy of Errors" (1589).
The base is clearly impressed with "WEDGWOOD", along with additional marks, including "D" and "964 2."

Condition:
The jug is in excellent condition for its age, with a well-preserved glaze. Some light crazing and natural age-related shelf wear is visible on the underside. There are tiny examples of paint chipping around some of the bands, but nothing heavy or large. Please refer to the pictures for details.
