Vintage Ambassador Scotch Bar Sign Color Changing Fiber Optics
Here we have a Vintage Light-Up Bar Sign advertising “Ambassador Scotch”. Classic natural looking finish over play board with a glass panel containing a very beautiful and intricate system of fiber optic lighting that spells: “Ambassador Scotch at its lightest”. These lights smoothly transition between Rich Amber/Sepia-Tones, to pure white, blues, and reds. It even caps off each sequence with a shimmering effect on the letters. Seriously, at least check out the video we provided. This piece is really cool and sleek.
Ambassador Scotch was a principle brand of Taylor & Ferguson Ltd. (1931) and was as greatly expanded during the 1950’s when absorbed by Bloch Brothers Distillers. Despite Ambassador’s parent companies being of Scottish and Canadian Roots, they saw (if not all of) their success with their ‘Ambassador’ brand of American Blended Scotches. Ambassador saw its prime years Post WW2 thru the late 70s, and eventually shutting their doors in the late 80s. They were known in particular for their De Luxe 8-year-old, 12-year-old and Royal 12- and 25-year-old. It is likely that the constituent malts included Scapa and Glen Scotia at some point due to the brand’s ownership. It is not known what its make-up was and is very much an auction item thru today. This sign would make a stellar addition to your home-bar, man cave, rec room, or even your 21+ Food/Drink Establishment for that classic flare.
The standalone sign is in pretty good condition overall. Only two immediately noticeable chips on the body: Front side left towards the middle, and on the right side near the top. Neither of which are particularly large. Other then that, the back panel isn’t completely covering the back and leaves a few centimeter gap, which means ‘some’ dust has found its way inside the display. It’s not particularly thick or dirty, but the inside glass could use a cleaning if it’s bothers you. We would normally take care of something like this; however, due to the fragile and intricate nature of the lights, we felt better leaving it be considering it’s pretty minimal and just adds to the aesthetic of the piece in our eyes anyway.
