Vintage Richard G. Fish ‘Grey Day, Ellis Landing’ Acrylic, Cape Cod dune house, c.1960s.

Beautiful original painting titled :"Grey Day, Ellis Landing" — acrylic on panel, signed Richard Fish lower right. Originally displayed/sold by Kenmore Galleries, Inc. (Philadelphia) as makred on label on reverse with registry no. K 614 (A353) and original typed price $350.00.

A quiet Cape Cod scene: a weathered shingled cottage set behind windswept dune grass beneath a heavy gray sky. Fish really shows off his fine, directional brushwork on the shingles, grasses, small details like a hint of blue cloth, and the small blue pail/red shovel at left. This characetur of Ellis Landing (Brewster, MA) is very expressive and subtely haunting in it's own right.

Richard G. Fish was a Philadelphia-area painter and graphic designer who exhibited at Kenmore and Gross McCleaf Gallery; he painted extensively on Cape Cod, received U.S. Park Service commissions (Independence & Valley Forge parks; Cape Cod National Seashore), and later served as artist-in-residence at Rocky Mountain National Park (1991–92).
