Vintage Framed Lithograph by Elizabeth O’Neill Verner – Woolworth Building, New York City – Signed

Today we have a lithograph of an original pencil drawing by noted Southern artist Elizabeth O’Neill Verner, depicting a street-level view of Lower Manhattan from the perspective of the Chambers Street Archway of the municipal building. At the center rises the iconic Woolworth Building, one of New York's earliest skyscrapers and a Gothic Revival masterpiece completed in 1913.

Elizabeth O’Neill Verner (1883–1979) is best known for her etchings and drawings of Charleston, SC, but she also produced scenes from cities she visited all over the world. She is a true success and determination story as she became a well known artist later in her life after she was widowed. This rare New York rendering captures not only the architecture but the atmosphere of the early 20th-century metropolis.
