Italian Gruppo d’Arte Decalage Painting – “Curiosità” (1975)
This original painting was produced in 1975 by Gruppo d’Arte, Decalage, an Italian collaborative art collective active in the postwar period and known for its unified approach to figurative and narrative painting.
Gruppo d’Arte Decalage was formed by a trio of Italian painters who worked jointly for decades, developing a recognizable collaborative practice in figurative and narrative painting. The group’s name was created from the first syllables of two member surnames—De’ Cavero and Aloisi—with the suffix “-age” added as a nod to the concept of collage and collaborative creation. Later, Nardo Girardi joined, completing the core trio.
Titled Curiosità, this painting depicts a quiet, atmospheric scene with small figures set within a softly rendered architectural and natural landscape.
The painting is signed “Decalage” within the image and retains original signatures of each artist and info on the reverse, including the title Curiosità and the date 1975
