Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre “Dragon & Chimera” Bowl – Daisy Makeig-Jones Design
This is a fine example of Wedgwood’s Fairyland Lustre, designed under Daisy Makeig-Jones. The interior and exterior are richly decorated with fantastical beasts—elongated dragons, winged chimerasrendered in gilt and enamel against a shimmering opalescent ground.
The lustre glaze is characteristic of Makeig-Jones’s work: an iridescent wash of violet, blue, and green with overglaze gold tracery and borders. Inside, the decoration is further accented by a repeating gilt rim motif and central roundel. The mark on the base, Wedgwood / England with the urn emblem, dates this example to the interwar years (c. 1920s). The hand-painted number Z482 identifies the design.

Condition:
The bowl presents well with age-appropriate wear, but we noted repaired cracks visible through the body (stable but present). The gilt retains good detail, though with some rubbing in places. The glaze surface is intact with light scratching and minor imperfections
