Wedgwood Fairyland Lustreware Small Octagonal Bowl – Dragon Design, c. 1920s
A rare and striking Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre octagonal bowl, produced in England during the early 20th century. This piece features Wedgwood’s signature iridescent lustre glaze, shifting beautifully in light from deep cobalt tones to shimmering greens and golds.
The exterior is adorned with hand-gilded dragon motifs, their golden outlines faint yet still visible against the dark lustre ground. The interior displays a luminous surface with a gilded geometric vine border, and at the center rests a finely detailed dragon medallion.
Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre, designed under Daisy Makeig-Jones in the 1910s–1930s, is celebrated for its fantastical and mythological themes, blending Eastern and Western artistic traditions.
