Abstract Oil Painting Synapse Electrum Minimalist Home Office Emerging Artist

Add a splash of vibrant color to your home or work space with this unique piece of modern wall art. The second addition to my Synapse series, the inspiration behind this painting came from a microscopic image I came across while reading an article about consciousness. The photo behind my inspiration showed beautifully colored neurons and neuronal connections in flashes of brilliant greens, blues, pinks, yellows and reds, each color corresponding to different fluorescent structures within the image. I wanted to capture that sense of synaptic connection between neurons and neural tissue.

For the second painting in the series, an interesting effect occurred which gave me inspiration for the name itself. While layering a metallic gold paint alongside a metallic silver paint, the two individual colors blend chromatically to become a sort of beige or taupe abstract background color. In nature, an alloy that is made up of the elemental metals gold and silver is called electrum. In any case, similar to the first painting in the series, this painting shows a multitude of playful curves and shaded regions. Most lines are soft with a medium level of opacity while still preserving the individual darker forms. Throughout the series, I played with the ideas of shape, form, shading and space. Specifically here, I focused on two things. The first being longer, more dynamic curves throughout the piece. The second being shaded regions inhabiting the same physical space as darker regions with the two fighting it out to win over your eyes.
