Antique Deco 14k Rose Gold Whirling Dervishes Muslim Ritual Pendant 3D Charm 1”
Item offered is a RARE antique 14k gold Art Deco whirling dervishes Muslim Ritual Prayer 3D charm. This charm is made of solid 14k gold, with a red tuban head, and a flowing skirt. Piece is unmarked, but when tested with acid it is confirmed to be 14k.
What do the whirling dervishes represent?
The Order was based on teaching forgiveness, tolerance, and enlightenment. The members survive today as a cultural brotherhood. Although the whirling ritual, called sema, may appear at first glance like a theatrical performance, they actually represent a sacred Muslim religious ritual performed as a part of praying.
Condition is great, with minimal age-related wear. Some of the black enamel at the bottom of the skirt is worn. Please refer to photos provided as they are an extension of our written description.
