Antique Art Deco Painted Metal Mesh Beggar’s Bag Purse Floral Ship Clasp c.1920s-30s
Beautiful antique Art Deco era metal mesh evening purse, dating approximately to the 1920s-1930s. This unusual example is constructed in a gathered “beggar’s bag” or pouch form from fine silver-tone metal mesh, with a colorful enameled floral decoration worked directly into the mesh.
The design features repeating pink/red and yellow stylized flowers with green stems and foliage. The flexible mesh is gathered into an articulated metal gate-style frame, allowing the purse to expand when opened and collapse neatly when closed.
