We are offering an antique color lithograph print in frame, measuring about 17.5” High x 13.5” Wide x 1” deep.
This piece is a recreation of William Ladd Taylor’s work, titled “If music be the food of love, play on.” which is a line from William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. In a lavish parlor, a young Regency woman wearing an Empire style dress plays a piano as a man listens intently in the background. In the left corner is the mark “(c) C P Co”, the mark of the Curtis Publishing Company of New York. The bottom right corner is printed with the signature of William Ladd Taylor (1854-7926) American .
Done in the painting style of William Merritt Chase. Light on the subjects is a very important detail.
The frame is gold leaf and wood with some understated carved detailing. This piece is the perfect addition to any collection.
Very good to excellent condition with minimal age-related wear. The frame is sturdy and the glass is intact.
