Antique Derby Quad Silver Plate Covered Butter Dish c.1870s w Dome & Insert Rare

We are offering an antique covered butter dish. This piece has a lovely Victorian engraving with filigree and bamboo, indicative of the Aesthetic movement. It includes an inner plate and dome lid. There is a pair of hooks built into the side of the dish to hold a butter knife.

The Derby silver company is from Derby, Connecticut, founded in 1872 and bought out in 1898, and was known for their high quality quadruple silver plate.
Based on the design, we believe this to be one of their earlier pieces, from the 1870s. It is marked with the Derby silver plate mark on the bottom of the dish and the number “1603”. This piece is the perfect addition to any collection.

Very good condition with minimal age-related wear. There is a small pit in the bottom of the dish, and Some pitting inside the dish and on the inner plate. Please inspect the pictures carefully, as they are an extension of our written description.
