Antique Hickory Walking Stick Cane With Sterling Silver Handle – 35”
Today we have an amazing antique cane featuring a hickory shaft with a hand-painted burl-style finish and a sterling silver handle. The handle has a rounded bulb form with a hammered / honeycomb-style texturing. The silver collar is marked “STERLING” with an additional maker’s mark (double crown) above. We were unable to definitively attribute the Sterling handle. A handsome antique cane that makes a wonderful display piece or addition to a walking stick / gentleman’s accessory collection.
The cane measures approximately 35” high from top to bottom. The sterling handle is approximately 1 1/4” wide, and the cane shaft is approximately 5/8” wide. Total weight is approximately 7 oz.
*Condition*
Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear throughout. The wooden shaft shows finish wear in the areas where it would be gripped. Has some scuffs, scratches, darkened areas, and spots of paint / surface loss from use and handling. The sterling silver handle shows tarnish, patina, scratches, small dings, and surface wear, but shines quite nicely. Bottom tip shows age and wear as pictured.
