Antique Italian Majolica Wall Pocket Bellows Central Bust Cherub Signed TD 23"

Monumental Antique Majolica Faience wall pocket in the form of a bellows from an unknown Italian artist, circa mid to late 19th century. Large and heavy piece. A white/cream-colored base is finished with several shades of green, blue, orange, and red.

A large figural central bust in the form of a dark, long-haired goddess/queen, almost a Medusa-like face is hand-formed in raised relief. Several sections of raised, figural leaf-work is draped around all sides of the front edge. A tiny cherub head is formed into the material near the bottom "nozzle". Both sides show a light blue color.

Entire piece, including the interior and back, is finished with the typical majolica shiny glaze. Artist signed on the front of the nozzle in blue appearing to resemble "TD" (evident in picture 5, any information regarding identification is much appreciated!).

Entire piece spans roughly 22 1/2" Long x 9" Wide x 5 1/2" Thick.

Very good to excellent. Restoration-free example. No cracks, chips, hairlines or color discoloration on the piece's front design. The raised relief work is not missing any pieces and is strong in color and fully intact. Faint darkening of the base color around the piece's outer edges and backside. Wear on the piece's backside, with one very tiny section on the rim of the manufactured hole (for hanging) showing a nick. Super clean interior pocket. Very thick walled, heavy, quality-constructed piece.
