Antique Japanese Taisho Ukiyo-e Woodblock Print Beautiful Woman Nihon Shosui-sha

We are offering an antique Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print from the Taisho era, measuring about 7.25” wide x 11.75” high , and 12.5”wide  x 17.25” high with the antique frame. Printed by the publisher Nihon Shosui-sha, this piece is a recreation of the masterworks of earlier times. This piece depicts a beautiful woman on a walk, peering down at some plants along the path. The kimono is detailed with unique patterns for each layer, and the bold colors of the underlayers stand out against the earthy tones of the rest of the piece. This piece is the perfect addition to any collection.

Taishō (大正) is a period in the history of Japan dating from 30 July 1912 to 25 December 1926, coinciding with the reign of the Emperor Taishō.

Ukiyo-e is a genre of Japanese traditional printing which was established during the Edo period and became popular among ordinary people in the 17th Century. Ukiyo-e prints also had an especially great influence on Impressionists, such as Vincent van Gogh and Paul Cezanne. This movement is called “Japonism.”

Very good condition with no damage to the print itself. There is some chipping to the frame on the two top corners and on the upper left side and the paper sealing the back is opening up.
