Antique Rare Clifton Art Pottery 1906 Arts & Crafts Crystal Patina Vase 7 1/8" Drip Glaze Signed

The item up for offer is a beautiful 7 1/8" high antique early rare Clifton art Pottery NJ arts & crafts mission  bulbous bottom into a square top shaped rim matte green drip crystalline - crystal patina- glaze vase. The bottom of this piece is marked "137 Cliffton 137".

This vase and other pieces came from the estate of a family member of the founders.


In 1905 Fred Tschirner and William A. Long founded the Clifton Art Pottery in Newark, NJ. Initially, they produced pottery in the Arts and Crafts style. Vases, teapots and the like. In 1906 they introduced Indian ware which was based on Native American designs. In 1911 they switched their production to wall and floor tile. They changed the company name and the Cliffton art pottery was no more.
