The item up for offer is a truly stunning and rare antique Victorian Romantic Period (1837-1860) solid 14k yellow gold, amethyst, and natural seed pearl drop shaped pendant, on a crimped paperclip chain necklace. This piece features a a safety type clasp which is not original to this piece. This piece is not marked, however both the chain and pendant have been acid tested as being solid 14k Yellow gold.
The Romantic Period (1837-1860) reflected the love of a nation for its young queen and her love for her husband, Prince Albert. During this period 14k-22k, and bright gemstones were popular.
