Antique WW1 Medical Wood Doctor’s Leg Knee Splint Brace w/ Strap Authentic
We are offering an antique doctor’s leg brace, measuring about 24” long altogether, 9” tall above the knee and 15” below the knee, 4” wide, and 3” deep. This piece is most likely from the early 1900s based on older models from the Civil War. This piece is mainly wood with a metal screw and joint to bend the knee as necessary. One of the two original straps is still present.
We received this piece from a man whose grandfather was a doctor who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1896, a Dr. H Fleckenstine, MD. This piece is the perfect addition to any collection. He was involved with WWI.
Disclaimer: we cannot say whether this piece has been used, but the likelihood is high, due to it coming from a practicing doctor.
Very good condition with expected age-related wear. One of the metal poles around the screw is broken, and the whole piece needs to be oiled before it can move. Disclaimer: we cannot say whether any pieces are missing, as we don’t know what the splint looked like originally.
