Grosset and Dunlap, New York, 1907. First Edition. Cloth with pasted paper illustration and relief design to the front board. Octavo (8 x 5 1/2 x 1 inches). Condition is nearly Very Good. Overall a tight (except for slight loosening to the front hinge), clean volume. Slight wear to corners, spine head and tail softened, minor scuffing to the rear board and small drip spots on the upper right front cover.
Romance and motor cars in the early years of the automobile (they'll never catch on). Mr. Field (1878-1936) was an author, playwright, artist, poet and journalist (Hearst papers). His novel Twin Beds was filmed by Hollywood four times. A very attractive book with a portrait of the heroine, Marian Standish, by the noted illustrator Harrison Fisher as well as six interior illustrations by Clarence Underwood.
