Vintage C.G. Conn Connstellation 5C-W Cornet Mouthpiece Silver Plated Brass *RARE*
Vintage C.G. Conn “Connstellation” 5C-W cornet mouthpiece. This is a discontinued professional-grade Conn mouthpiece with a small cornet shank, silver-plated brass construction, and the distinctive oversized Connstellation profile.
The mouthpiece is clearly marked with “Connstellation” name and “5C-W” model designation. According to the Conn Connstellation 5CW reference page, this model has a 16.76 mm cup diameter and is characterized by a larger cup, fuller lower register, wide rim, larger rounded inner radius, and less bite. The reference identifies the 5CW as a deep-cup, small-shank cornet mouthpiece made of silver-plated brass.
The “W” designation corresponds to the notably wide rim visible in the photos. The substantial cup and broad, rounded rim profile were designed to favor comfort and a full-bodied tone, particularly in the lower register. The Connstellation mouthpieces were part of Conn’s premium mouthpiece line during the mid-20th century and are now discontinued. Period discussion and surviving examples generally associate the Connstellation mouthpiece line with the 1950s through early 1970s.

Vintage pre-owned condition with scratches, scuffs, finish wear, tarnish, discoloration, and signs of use. Interior shows oxidation/residue. Shank shows insertion wear. Untested for playing characteristics. This example retains a bright polished silver-colored finish with age-appropriate surface wear throughout, including scratches, scuffs, fine marks, tarnish, and areas of discoloration. The shank shows visible wear from insertion and use. The interior of the shank and cup show oxidation, residue, and general signs of previous use. No obvious major cracks or severe deformation are visible in the photos. Please review all photos closely for the exact cosmetic condition.
A desirable vintage Conn cornet mouthpiece in the less commonly encountered 5C-W configuration, well suited for a Conn collector, vintage brass enthusiast, or player seeking a broad-rimmed, deep-cup cornet mouthpiece.
