Vintage Mohan’s Hong Kong Black Silk Brocade Opera Kimono Styled Coat Jacket MCM
We have a very elegant vintage Mohan’s Hong Kong black brocade kimono styled evening coat / opera coat, labeled “Mohan’s, 14 Hankow Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong.” Beautiful tailored formal silhouette with collarless round neckline, covered front placket, large fabric-covered buttons, wide bracelet-length sleeves, and a long straight coat form.
The exterior is a lustrous black brocade fabric with woven East Asian-style motifs throughout, including bamboo, flowering branches, tonal medallions, and seal-script. The fabric has a rich dimensional look, with colorful woven floral decoration contrasted against subtle black-on-black designs.
Fully lined in cream with quilted decorative panels and circular stitched motifs. Interior also has a personalized stitched initials label, appearing to read either “J.U.S.” or “F.U.S.”, suggesting this was a custom-tailored garment. We believe the inside and outside is silk.
Likely mid-century, approximately 1950s–1960s, based on the Mohan’s Hong Kong label, silhouette, construction, lining style, and formal opera coat design.

Vintage pre-owned condition with age-appropriate wear. Exterior presents beautifully overall, with scattered light lint/dust, faint scuffs, light fabric rubs, and minor signs of handling visible under direct light. But presents wonderfully. Interior lining shows some creasing,minor wear near seams/labels. Buttons present. No major structural damage noted.
