Antique American Water Softener Co. Philadelphia Water Testing Kit Wood Box
Antique water testing kit from American Water Softener Co. of Philadelphia, housed in its original wooden fitted case. The set includes multiple glass cylinders, glass stirring rods/tubes, loose instruction fragments, and interior wooden blocks/dividers. This appears to have been used for testing water hardness or preparing/reading water treatment solutions, likely as part of early domestic or industrial water softening service work.
The wooden case measures 9 3/4” x 6” x 7” and has dovetailed corners, metal hinges, a front latch plate, and fitted cutouts for the glass components. Total weight is 3 lb 3 oz. See pictures for approx. measurements of glass components.
*Condition*
Antique used condition with age-related wear throughout. The wooden box has surface scratches, scuffs, finish wear, dark staining, residue, and general handling marks. The inner tray component that holds the glass in place is broken in two pieces, but still sit in box. Interior has visible staining and areas of wear around the fitted cutouts. Metal hinges and hardware show oxidation/tarnish. Glass pieces have residue, cloudiness, staining, and surface wear from use; one or more pieces may be incomplete or associated, so please review photos closely. The paper instruction fragments are torn, brittle, and incomplete. Sold as found, as an antique display/collector piece rather than a functional testing kit.
