Vintage Miyawaki Baisen Folding Fan – Hand-Painted Silk with Samurai Battle Scene, Lacquered Ribs, Kyoto Japan, Boxed
Here we have a beautiful vintage folding fan attributed to Miyawaki Baisen, a respected Kyoto maker of luxury fans crafted with traditional Japanese techniques. The fan features an elaborate hand-painted war scene on silk with mounted samurai warriors. Rich colors, floral motifs, and shimmering gold adornments lend to this fan being a very visually dynamic piece.
The ribs are black lacquered wood with ornate gold and blue designs, hand-painted in delicate floral and geometric patterns. The back side of the fan is plain with subdued tones, showing ghost traces of the artwork when lit from behind. Green patterned storage box and original black silk hanging tassel are included.
Measurements (approx.): 20 1/2"L x 5/8"D x 11 1/8"H, (1 1/8"L when Folded)
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Vibrant paintwork, intact silk, no major damage or separation. Very minimal signs of use and wear. Box shows minor wear. Please closely examine photos.
