Antique Junghans Germany Chiming Mantel Clock c.1900s Working w/ Key
Antique German Junghans chiming mantel clock, circa early 1900s, housed in a beautiful wood case with arched top, fluted side column. The dial is marked “Junghans Germany” near the bottom and the movement plate bears the Junghans 8-poin star mark along with stamped numbers "2.15".
Tested and currently working with a beautiful chime sound. Key is included, though it is not the original key. Like many antique mechanical clocks, it needs to be properly leveled in order to run reliably. After setup or moving, the chime mechanism may also take time to cycle and adjust so that the bells correspond to the correct hour. Last noted full service appears to have been in 1993, with an interior service sticker indicating earlier service in 1936.
Approx. Dimensions: 12 3/4” W x 7 1/4” D x 13 3/4” H
Weight: 13 lb 7 oz
*Condition*
Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear throughout. The wood case shows surface scratches, finish wear, scuffs, small nicks, and areas of rubbing, especially around the back and lower edges. The dial and interior silvered surround show some tarnish, discoloration, spotting, and surface wear. Inner frame around the clock face shows the most notable wear. Glass door and hardware are intact. Interior service labels remain present. Back door panel closes, but the lock mechanism is slightly off and doesn't fully engage. It doesn't affect the door closing, but making note for transparency. Tested and working, but as with any antique mechanical clock, long-term timekeeping accuracy is not guaranteed and adjustment may be needed after shipping or relocation. Key included (not original).
