Vintage Royal Copenhagen Bertel Thorvaldsen “Autumn” Bisque Porcelain Plaque
Today we have a vintage Royal Copenhagen white bisque porcelain relief plaque after a design by renowned Danish Neoclassical sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen.
The plate depicts a scene commonly identified as “Autumn” or “Maturity,” from Thorvaldsen’s Four Seasons series.
Finely molded in matte white bisque porcelain, the plaque has crisp figural detail and an ornamental border. It is mounted against blueish velvet beneath glass and housed in a molded gilt-finished wood frame. The plaque is not visibly marked while enclosed in the frame.

Vintage condition with age-related wear. The porcelain plaque appears intact from the front, with no obvious chips, cracks, or repairs observed. The frame displays scratches, scuffs, spotting, finish loss, and worn corners. The velvet backing shows dust, marks, and impressions. The paper dust cover on the reverse is heavily worn and torn, exposing the blue fabric and mounting material beneath. Hanging wire is present. Please review all photographs closely.
